Betty Brown

October 22, 1940 — November 21, 2017

Betty A. Brown, 77, of New Philadelphia, Ohio passed away Tuesday, Nov. 21, 2017 at Claymont Health and Rehabilitation following an extended illness.

Born in Columbus, Ohio on October 22, 1940, Betty was the daughter of the late Walter James and Bessie Marie (Huston) Carter. Her given name was Betty Marie. At the age of two she was adopted by Clyde and Mary Huprich of Chili, Ohio and they changed her name to Betty Ann.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by three siblings (Janice and Ben, and a step-brother Allen Huprich) and two grandchildren (Angel and Joshua).

Betty is survived by her beloved husband Bailey M. Brown, Jr. They were married May 26, 1967 in West Memphis, Arkansas and celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary this year. They resided in New Philadelphia for the last 25 years. She will be dearly missed by her husband Bailey, as she passed away on his 83rd birthday.

She will also be dearly missed by her three children, Michael (Sherri) Limbacher of Fresno, Richard (Eiko) Limbacher of Stone Creek, Barbara (Rick) Keffer of New Philadelphia, and a step-son Robert (Stephanie) Brown of Jonesboro, Arkansas. Along with her children, she will be missed by 11 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. She was very proud of her large growing family, as they are her legacy.

Betty was an artist, painting and drawing in many mediums, as well an avid reader and writer. She liked to fish and camp, plant flowers outside her home, and care for her pets. Her greatest passion was raising Pomeranian dogs. She raised them for many years, and provided puppies for the companionship to many. Her Pom’s gave her great comfort in her later years. She loved reading the Bible and watching her favorite church programs on TV. Along with her many passions and talents, Betty created beautiful music through playing the piano and guitar.

Betty graduated from Kent State University, Tuscarawas Campus in 1993. She earned an associate degree in Criminal Justice, graduating with a GPA of 4.0 and honors. She was always deeply intrigued by criminal justice books and crime TV programs. She then trained to be a deputy sheriff in their auxiliary program, holding several security positions and teaching drivers’ education in New Philadelphia.

Betty has forever left an impression on those that were blessed with her presence. She was companionate about life, and she got what she wanted out of life through undeterred determination. Those qualities will live on in her family, for which she was so very proud.

“Life is not measured by the number breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away!”

In keeping with Betty’s wishes there will be no public visitation or services. Cremation care has been conducted by Geib’s Tuscarawas Valley Crematory.

The family requests memorial contributions be made in Betty’s name to the Tuscarawas County Humane Society: tuschumanesociety.com/help/donate-to-tchs.php
