Betsy Ann Nixon, 65, of Dover, died Saturday, December 10, 2016 in Hennis Care & Retirement Centre at Dover following a lengthy illness.
A daughter of the late Keller and Margaret “Peggy” (Tucker) Nixon, Betsy was born in Union Hospital at Dover, Ohio on November 1, 1951.
Betsy graduated from Dover High School in 1970. She then continued her education at Kent State University where she graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in nursing. During her younger years she worked as a Hospice Nurse and eventually retired as a Registered Nurse from Hennis Care & Retirement Centre at Dover.
She is survived by her children, Jen Bigler and Holly Bigler both of New Philadelphia and Lucas (Erika Davis) King of Canton, Illinois; her grandchildren, Justin Pica and Cullen Fountain of New Philadelphia, Zoey and Dax King of Bolivar and Audrey King of Canton, Illinois; a brother, Fred Nixon of Dover, many nieces and nephews and her best friend from childhood, Robin Randolph of Dover.
Betsy was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Ronald and Daniel Nixon.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, December 17, 2016 from 10 to 11 a.m. in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. A memorial service celebrating Betsy’s life will follow in the funeral home at 11 a.m. with Pastor Brian Flood officiating. Inurnment will follow in Evergreen Burial Park at New Philadelphia.
The family suggests, in lieu of flowers, contributions be made in Betsy’s memory to Community Hospice of Tuscarawas County, 716 Commercial Avenue SW, New Philadelphia, OH 44663.
