Bertha Wright, a life-long area resident, died at New Dawn Care Center in Dover, Thursday, June 3, 2004. She was 102.A daughter of the now late Christ and Christine Ley Lorenze, Bertha was born in Coshocton, OH, on August 28, 1901.In l922, she married David R. Wright and shared 45 years of marriage with him until his death in l967.Growing up during the depression, she was a tireless worker throughout her life. In addition to rearing her family, she raised African violets in her Uhrichsville home, at one time nurturing over 5, 000 individual plants, crocheted bread-bag rugs, and was an excellent seamstress. She was employed by H. L. Green in Uhrichsville, and, in her later years, cared for elderly patients in their homes.Bertha was the oldest living member of the Sharon Moravian Church, and had also been active with the Senior Citizens’ Group and with AARP.She is survived by a daughter-in-law, Janet Wright Kirkland of New Philadelphia; four grandchildren, Richard (Cathy) Wright of Reinholds, PA, Janadean (Joe) Brown, Max Wright, and Philip (Karla) Wright, all of New Philadelphia; four great-grandchildren, Rebecca (Brian) Smith of Pickerington, Matt (Heather) Brown of Gnadenhutten, and Enoch Wright and Sarah Wright, both of New Philadelphia; four great-great grandchildren, Jacob and Abby Smith of Pickerington and Cheyenne and Logan Brown of Gnadenhutten; and one sister, Beaula (Ben) Hamlin of New Philadelphia.In addition to her parents and husband, two sons, Richard and Don, four sisters, and three brothers preceded her in death.Friends may call on the family at the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory on Monday, June 7, 2004, between 12:30 and 1:30 pm. Services will be conducted in the funeral home chapel by Pastor Michael R. Foran at 1:30 pm. Following the service, Bertha will be buried next to her husband at Evergreen Burial Park in New Philadelphia.Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 201-A West Ohio Avenue, Dover, OH 44622.
