Bertha Donathan Hall Martinko

Bertha Donathan Hall Martinko, age 78, of Tuscarawas, formerly of Marion, died peacefully early Thursday morning, in Castle Nursing Home at Millersburg. Born at Stewart, Kentucky, April 17, 1928, Bertha was a daughter of the late Bert and Retia Tacket Donathan. Together with her first husband, the late Hargus Hall, they owned and operated the former Hargus Hall Swabbing Service of Rt. 4, New Philadelphia until his death in 1974. From 1974 until the early 1980’s Bertha owned and operated the former Hardrock Well Service. In 1980, Bertha married Joseph G. Martinko, and resided at Marion, Ohio, until his death in June of this year. Bertha attended the Christian Lighthouse Church at New Philadelphia. Survivors include a daughter, Penny (husband Raymond) King of Marion, Ohio, and four sons, Donald B. Hall also of Marion, Terry (wife Patricia) Hall of Wooster, Ohio, Kermit (wife Patty) Hall of New Philadelphia, and Bill (wife Karen) Hall of Fredericksburg, Ohio.Thirteen grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren complete the family. In addition to her parents, and husbands, Bertha was preceded in death by a sister, Martha Hopper, and five brothers, Ernie, Bert, Stack, Edward and Kermit Donathan. Friends are invited to call Friday evening from 7 until 9 PM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. Bertha’s grandson, Eric K. Hall, will lead funeral services Saturday morning at 11:00 in the funeral home’s chapel. Burial will follow in East Avenue Cemetery. Following the committal service, a reception for family and friends will be given in the Christian Lighthouse Church fellowship hall at 335 Union Avenue, New Philadelphia.
