BERNICE E. SHERRETS, 85, of New Philadelphia, died peacefully at Aultman Hospital in Canton on Tuesday morning, April 1, 2003. On August 22, 1917, she was born to the late Samuel and Laura Meese Swinderman in Midvale. Bernice shared 47 years of marriage with Martin Sherrets, who died February 25, 1983. The couple was married July 6, 1935. Along with her husband and family, Bernice enjoyed camping at Dogwood Acres near Salt Fork. She was a good cook and will be long remembered for her homemade noodles and excellent potato salad. Bernice was skilled at crochet work and making afghans. Being at home is what Bernice enjoyed most, but she also liked going on family car rides. She is survived by two sons, Donald (Barbara) Sherrets of New Philadelphia and Larry (Marcia) Sherrets of Warsaw, OH; a sister, Freda Aman of Navarre; a brother, Samuel Swinderman of Newcomerstown; seven grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, Bernice was preceded in death by four sisters and a brother. Calling hours will be Friday, April 4, 2003 in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home from 7:00 to 9:00 PM. The funeral service will be Saturday, April 5, 2003 in the funeral home at 10:30 AM with Tom Gruver officiating. Burial alongside her husband will follow at Ridgecrest Memory Gardens. After the committal a reception will be shared in the Geib Family Center, adjacent to the funeral home.
