Benjamin Jay Wincek, 56, of New Philadelphia, died Monday, December 3, 2018.
A son of Robert and Ann (Miller) Wincek, Ben was born March 7, 1962 at Navarre, Ohio.
Ben was raised in Massillon and graduated from R.G. Drage Career Technical Center and later completed training to obtain his CDL permit. He would eventually move to the Bridgeport area before relocating to the New Philadelphia area for the past 20 years.
Ben held strong religious values as a Jehovah’s Witness. He also valued his strong work ethic and during his younger years he was proud to have worked in a paper mill. Ben also held employment at Marrow Control, Herc Equipment Rental and Tremcar.
Ben was an outdoorsman who was especially fond of camping and planting his garden. He also enjoyed buying and reselling used cars and had a love for animals.
He is survived by his parents; his daughters, Emily (Cody Mick) Wincek and Julia Wincek; his former wife, Linda Wincek; a sister, Carol (Tim) Murphy; a niece and nephew, Jeshua (Aubrey) Murphy and Lydia (Zachary) Parvu; an aunt and uncle, Marilyn and Lou Salinas; an uncle, Joe Miller; a cousin, Travis Miller; as well as many other aunts, uncles and cousins.
In keeping with Ben’s wishes, cremation will take place and a memorial service will be held on Friday, December 7, 2018 at 8 PM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM in the funeral home prior to the service.
