Benjamin Russell Roth, Sr., 67, of Wainwright, died Saturday, May 21, 2005, at Twin City Hospital in Dennison.A son of the late Edward and Lucy (Rummell) Roth, Ben was born June 4, 1937 in Tuscarawas.He was a 1955 graduate of Tuscarawas High School. He retired from the New Philadelphia Ohio Highway Patrol Post where he worked in the maintenance department and he served as a Warwick Township Trustee for 24 years. He was also a veteran of the United States Air Force.Ben was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Dennison as well as a member of the former St. Theresa’s Catholic Church in Wainwright. He was also a member of the Warwick Senior Citizens.He had a passion for sports. He enjoyed following the Cleveland Indians and Cavs. He was an avid golfer and bowler and in 2000 he bowled a perfect game. Ben also coached Pony League Baseball and also Softball for Indian Valley.He had many other interest and hobbies, but what was most important to him was his family. He lived his life for his children and grandchildren and cherished every moment that he spent with his wife, Nancy (Toth) Roth. Ben and Nancy simply enjoyed being together, whether it was taking a drive in the rain or visiting the local Amish areas.He is survived by his wife Nancy, whom he married October 7, 1961 at St. Theresa’s Catholic Church in Wainwright; five children, Benjamin (Tina) Roth of Pleasantville, Ohio, Jill (Duane) Schweitzer of Tuscarawas, Lori (Chris) Davis of Goshen, Rusty Roth of Wainwright and Becky (Doug) Henry of Uhrichsville; grandchildren, Haylie Roth, Colton Roth, Katie Roth, Sarah Schweitzer, Zac Schweitzer, Josh Schweitzer, Jessica Davis, Jacob Davis, Macey Roth, Malory Roth, A.J. Henry and Cameron Henry; three brothers, John (Ruth) Roth of Dover, Lloyd (Ruth) Roth of Port Washington and Doyle (Margaret) Roth of Tuscarawas; one sister, Faye (Dale) Fenton of New Philadelphia; and many other family members.He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant brother, Raymond Roth.Visitation will be Monday, May 23, 2005 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory in New Philadelphia with a Christian Wake Service being held at 7:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 24, 2005 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Dennison with Father Martin Ralko officiating. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in New Philadelphia where the Tuscarawas V.F.W will conduct military honors.
