Barbara J. Mason

Barbara J. Mason, 85, of New Philadelphia, passed away on Monday, January 27, 2025, at Ohio’s Hospice Truman House after a short period of declining health.

Born on March 1, 1939, in Dover, she was the daughter of the late Sarah Carmella (Brogne) Saffell and her husband William C. Saffell, and Clarence Thirmon Parris.

Barbara was a 1957 graduate of Dover High School. Early in her life, she successfully ran a ceramics business from her home. As her children grew older, she worked as a group home manager for several years before joining Dunkin's Diamonds at the New Town Mall, where she retired.

A devoted Michigan Wolverines fan, Barbara loved traveling to “The Big House” with her son, Michael, to cheer on the team. She lived her life with a sense of humor and a vibrant personality, always embracing every moment.

Barbara is survived by her son, Michael Mason of Magnolia; sister, Judy (Neil) Beal; brother, John Parris; sister, Sally Taylor; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Kelli Mason-Devlin; her children's father, Ronny Mason; brother-in-law, Gary Taylor; and sister-in-law, Carole Parris.

In accordance with her wishes, Barbara’s cremation arrangements have been entrusted to Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home and Crematory. No services are planned at this time.
