Barbara E Swearingen

Barbara E. “Bobbie” Swearingen, age 77, of Dover passed away peacefully Sunday, May 6, 2012 in Union Hospital at Dover under the care of Community Hospice of Tuscarawas County.

Born January 13, 1935 in New Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Nathalie (Wagner) Schupbach.

Barb attended York Township School and graduated from New Philadelphia High School in 1952.

She was a lifelong member at Jerusalem Church where she sang in the choir and was a member of both the Jerusalem Woman’s Society and the Rebecca Circle.

Early in her life, Barb was employed by Indian Valley North as a librarian, the telephone company, Sugarcreek Window and Door, and Simon Duplex.

Barb was an avid gardener, tending to numerous flower gardens around her home. She also loved to travel to any great beach. Most of all, she cherished time with her family and many good friends.

Barb will be deeply missed by her husband, Jim Swearingen of 22 years; her son, Tim Beans of Akron; her daughter and son-in-law, Peggy Beans and Bob Clark of Cuyahoga Falls; three grandchildren, Rob (fiancé, Kimberly Novick) Clark, Brent Clark; and Tawney Beans; her daughter-in-law, Carole Beans; her step-son, Scott (Mindy) Newhardt; and step-grandchildren, Grant and Elli Newhardt.

In addition to her parents, Barb was preceded in death by her son, David Beans in 2009; one brother, Leonard; and four sisters, Dorothy, Jane, Maxine, and Evelyn.

A memorial service celebrating Barb’s life will be held in Jerusalem Church, 1417 Stonecreek Rd. S.W. in New Philadelphia on Thursday, May, 10, 2012 beginning at 1 p.m. with The Rev. Frank Sapp Jr. officiating. Inurnment will follow in Jerusalem Church Cemetery.

Friends are invited to the church fellowship hall following the committal service for food and fellowship.
