Barbara Ann Skelly, 73, of New Philadelphia passed away Monday, October 1, 2012 in Union Hospital at Dover following a period of declining health.
Born in Uhrichsville on March 23, 1939, she was the daughter of the late Alma A. (Mattevi) Butler.
After graduating from Dennison St. Mary’s High School, she spent a period of time as a nurse’s aide.
Most importantly, she loved her family. She married her loving friend, Marshall “Frank” Skelly, and together, they raised 4 children; and loved and enjoyed 9 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
Barbara was a talented cook and baker and loved to spend time gardening and canning. She was also an avid fan of The Ohio State Buckeyes, and the Cleveland Browns and Indians.
Her faith was nurtured for numerous years at Roxford United Methodist Church.
She will be deeply missed by her husband, Frank; her children, Marsha (Lee) Rosenberry of TN; Sue Ann (Steve) Ruble of WV; Richard (Lisa) Skelly and Ronald (Jessica) Skelly, both of Dennison; her grandchildren, Heather Rosenberry, Jonathan (Jaclyn) Sangricco, Heather Skelly, Mathew Skelly, Melissa Skelly, Alex Ruble, Stephanie Ruble, Brandon Ruble, and Katelynn Skelly; her three great-grandchildren, Makinzie Sangricco, Bryce Sangricco, and Serenitee Portillo; and her sister, Ruth (Rodney) Brown of Norwalk.
In addition to her mother, Barbara was preceded in death by her sister, Jacqueline Mathews.
Visitation will be held in Roxford United Methodist Church, 771 Roxford Church Rd. SE Dennison, OH 44621, on Thursday from 9:30 to 10:30 with a service celebrating her life beginning at 10:30. Burial will follow in Roxford Cemetery.
Friends are invited back to the church social hall where a meal will be shared.
