Barbara Ann (Duchak) Lee, age 62, of New Philadelphia passed away in her home Friday, November 25, 2011, following an extended illness.Born in Perth Amboy, New Jersey, she was the daughter of the late Carl and Kathleen P. (Zanzalari) Duchak. A 1967 graduate of Perth Amboy High School, Barbara continued her formal education at Kean University (the former Newark State College) where she earned her bachelor of arts degree in Elementary Education in 1971.Barbara married the late Andrew Lee on April 14, 1973. Together, they enjoyed living their early years of married life in New Jersey before ultimately moving to New Philadelphia for Andy’s career in 1984. Andy passed away April 8, 2010. While in New Jersey, Barbara taught fifth grade in Perth Amboy, New Jersey. Upon moving to Ohio, Barbara became a homemaker until her children, Jennifer and Joseph reached high school. Then, she continued her professional career as a third party merchandiser for numerous companies. Caring for her family was of utmost importance; but Barbara also gave generously of her time to the Quaker Ladies and the Colonial Estates Homeowners Association where she served as treasurer for both organizations. Barbara found significance in her faith, which she practiced as a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church at New Philadelphia. Barbara will be remembered for her colorful personality which she maintained and kept through her final days. Barbara is loved and will be deeply missed by her children; Jennifer Lee of New Philadelphia and Joseph Lee of Dover, her sister; JoAnn (Michael) Kerr of Elberfeld, Indiana, her niece and nephews; Carla (Judd) Kidwell, David (Chastidy) Kerr, Justin (fiancé, Elizabeth Smith) Lee and Daniel Lee, her 4 great-nieces and nephews, her cousin; Robert (Linda) Yannick of South Plainfield, NJ, her special friends; Ron (Pat) Zaneto of Piscataway, NJ, and Barbara (Tom) Young of New Philadelphia, and her brother-in-law; John (Susan) Lee of Toms River, NJ.Visitation will be held in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia on Monday, November 28 from 5 to 8 p.m.Father Jeff Coning will celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial in Sacred Heart Church on Tuesday beginning at 10 a.m. Burial will follow the service at Calvary Cemetery in New Philadelphia. Friends are invited to St. Ambrose Hall following the committal service where a meal will be prepared by Barbara’s church family.
