Bailey M. Brown Jr., 83, of New Philadelphia, died Saturday, July 21, 2018 at Claymont Health and Rehabilitation in Uhrichsville following a period of declining health.
Born in West Memphis, Arkansas, on November 21, 1934, he was the son of the late Bailey M. and Mabel Lawson Brown, Sr.
He was a retired painter having worked for the City of Columbus and was a member of the Painter’s Union. He was a veteran having served with the United States Marine Corps. He also loved working on automobiles and reading western novels, especially Louis L’amour. Together with his wife, Bailey enjoyed raising Pomeranians for a number of years and also spent many hours reading his Bible and visiting with a number of local pastors. He was a happy-go-lucky guy and despite his many years in a nursing home, was known for his joking and teasing of his many caregivers and will be missed by many.
Bailey and his wife, Betty Ann Brown, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in May 2017 and she preceded him in death on November 21, 2017. Surviving are his son, Robert L. (Stephanie) Brown of Jonesboro, Arkansas; a step-daughter, Barbara A. (Rick) Keffer of New Philadelphia; two step-sons, Michael (Sherri) Limbacher of Fresno and Richard (Eiko) Limbacher of Stonecreek; 13 grandchildren and numerous great-gandchildren. Two grandchildren also preceded him in death.
In keeping with Bailey’s wishes, there will be no public visitation or services. Cremation care has been conducted by Geib’s Tuscarawas Valley Crematory.
The family requests that memorial contributions be made in Bailey’s memory to the Tuscarawas County Humane Society, 1432 Tall Timber Rd NE, New Philadelphia, OH 44663.
