Arvada Martina Fowler

Arvada M. Fowler, 87, of New Philadelphia, died Saturday, September 21, 2002 at Morning View Care Center in New Philadelphia.Born in Brewster, she was the daughter of the late Martin E. and Louisa Kendel Shutt. She was a 1933 graduate of Strasburg High School and had worked at the former Montgomery Wards, Kinser Lanes in New Philadelphia and the former Cussin and Fern store in Dover. She was an avid bowler and had participated in the senior bowling league at Kinser Lanes.Her husband, the late Richard W. Fowler, preceded her in death in June 1997. Surviving are a daughter, Judy (John) Hammel of Mineral City; a granddaughter, Malinda (Tim) Murphy of Bolivar; a grandson, Michael (Lisa) Hammel; two great granddaughters, Amanda and Alesha Murphy; and two sisters, Lula Richard and Flossie Lebold both of Bolivar and several nieces. Two sisters and two brothers are also deceased.Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 25, 2002 at 11:00 AM at the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home with Rev. Gerald Schuessler officiating. Burial will be at East Avenue Cemetery in New Philadelphia. Visitation will be held Tuesday, September 24, 2002 from 5 to 8 PM in the funeral home. The family requests that memorial contributions be made to Hospice of Tuscarawas County, 201 West Third Street, Dover, Ohio, 44622, or, St. John’s United Church of Christ, 516 North Wooster Avenue, Strasburg, Ohio, 44680.
