Arthur Thomas Pugh, 67, of Cleveland Heights, Ohio, died Friday, June 26, 2009 in Huron Hospital at Cleveland following a sudden illness.A son of the late John Willis and Margaret “Peggy” Ellen (Scott) Pugh, Art was born April 18, 1942 at Dover, Ohio.Art was a 1960 graduate of New Philadelphia High School and then graduated from the University of Kentucky in 1968.He was a fan of many sports and was quite an athlete himself. Art enjoyed playing softball and basketball and his daily routine included walking and jogging, sometimes three to five miles a day. He also enjoyed an occasional round of golf. Art also was a long time Scout Master for the Boy Scouts of America.Art’s greatest joy in life was being a grandfather. He cherished his grandchildren and the time spent with them. They were everything to him.He is survived by his children, Debi (Rex) Baxter of Spring, Texas, Andy Pugh of Columbus, Ohio, Kevin (Melissa) Pugh of Canal Winchester, Ohio and Eric (Korren) Pugh of Spring, Texas; his grandchildren, Mackenzie, Madison and Camryn Kling, Stephanie, Thomas, Evelyn, Isabelle and Margaret Pugh; a great granddaughter, Andrea Richardson; his beloved former spouse, Beverly Pugh of Houston, Texas; two sisters, Salli (Bill) Reese-White of Norman, Oklahoma and Margaret (Rodney) Hatten of Bethel Park, Pennsylvania; an uncle, Tom (Regina) Scott of Willowick, Ohio and numerous other extended family members.Art was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, John “Dick” Pugh.The family will receive guests on Thursday, July 2, 2009 from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. A funeral service celebrating Art’s life will be led by his son, Eric Pugh and also by Pastor Phillip Wolf on Friday, July 3, 2009 at 2 p.m. in the Linn-Hert-Geib Chapel. Burial will follow in New Cumberland Cemetery. Following the committal service, a memorial reception will be held in St. Ambrose hall, adjacent to Sacred Heart Catholic Church at New Philadelphia.Contributions may be made in Art’s memory to Hospice of Cleveland Clinic, 6801 Brecksville Road #10, Independence, OH 44131.
