Arnold E. Zurcher

ARNOLD E. ZURCHER, 92, died Friday afternoon, October 11, 2002 at Hennis Care Centre in Dover. A life-long resident of New Philadelphia, he was born July 4, 1910 to the late Benjamin S. and Margaret M. Schlafly Zurcher. He married Gladys E. Poland on February 28, 1936. The couple was married for 65 years when she died April 26, 2001. Mr. Zurcher worked for the Greer Steel Co. in Dover as a slitter operator and retired after 38 years. Along with his wife, Mr. Zurcher was a member of Jerusalem Church near Stone Creek. The couple enjoyed traveling throughout the United States and Canada and were also active in Greer Steel’s retirement group. He is survived by two sons, Donald E. (Helen) Zurcher and Eugene B. Zurcher and a brother, Raymond (Elizabeth “Libby”) Zurcher, all of New Philadelphia; grandchildren, Christine Washburn, Dan (Lynette) Zurcher, Terri (Mike) McLaughlin, Tim (Flora) Zurcher, Connie (Mike) Muzechuk, Kristy Garvey, and Shari (Gary, Jr.) Hootman; twelve great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be Monday, October 14, 2002 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home. The funeral service will be Tuesday, October 15, 2002 at 1:30 PM in the funeral home with Rev. Dr. Terry Downin officiating. Burial, alongside his wife Gladys, will follow at Jerusalem Church Cemetery
