Arline M. Long, 93, of Dover, passed away peacefully in her granddaughter Rachel Ice’s home Sunday afternoon, September 23, 2012 with her loving family at her side.
Born in Canton, O. on June 13, 1919, she was the daughter of the late Arthur Henry and Harriet Carolyn (Rocks) Martin.
After completing her high school education, Arline continued her formal education at Heidelberg College and ultimately completed her degree in education at Cleveland State University. She then educated students in Cleveland for more than 20 years.
On October 11, 1941, Arline married her lifelong companion, the late Thurman Edward Long.
Arline will be deeply missed by her family including her daughter, Betty Cap of Baltic, O.; her three sons, Robert (Stephanie) Long of Dover, William (Angie) Long of Ocean Shores, WA, and George (Carol) Long of Springfield, MO; 15 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, Robert Martin; an infant sister; and her granddaughter, Renata Cap.
Visitation will be held in the Geib Funeral Center at Dover on Thursday, September 27 from 5 to 7 p.m. Her son, Pastor William Long, will lead a funeral service in the funeral home on Friday beginning at 10 a.m. with visitation one hour prior to the service.
A private family burial will follow in Knollwood Cemetery at Cleveland.
