Arline Isabell Weaver

On May 9, 2013, Arline Isabell “R” Shull Weaver, of Arlington, Texas, went home to be with her Lord, after complications and health issues.

Born May 25, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Henry Shull and Harriet Nancy Jones Shull.

A 1947 New Philadelphia High School graduate, she wed Jim Weaver on Dec. 18, 1948, who survives along with their son, Clay (his girlfriend, Debbie Griffin) and daughter, Penny of Texas. Along with her sister, Shirley Jean Garabrandt of New Philadelphia she is survived by her half-sister, Linda Bland of Arizona and half-brother, Dan of New Philadelphia.

For several years, she was employed by Belmont of New Philadelphia, G.E. of Dover, and for over 20 years she was a crossing guard. In 1978 she was a graduate of Arlington Baptist College. A tremendous banjo, guitar and mandolin player she won 1st place in the yodeling contest at the Swiss Festival in Sugarcreek in 1972. Along with her sister, Jeannie, aunt, Gladys Shull, Laura Murphy and Bernie Winkler, she was part of the ensemble “Jolly 5” and entertained in festivals and events throughout the Tuscarawas Valley.

A graveside service led by her son, Clay, will be held on Friday, August 23, 2013 at 11:00 AM in Jerusalem Church Cemetery at New Philadelphia. Immediately following the service a luncheon reception will be held in the Jerusalem Church Social Hall.
