Arlinda Faye Burns, age 71, of Uhrichsville, died Wednesday, March 26, 2014, in Aultman Hospital at Canton following a sudden illness.
A daughter of the late Ambrose and Della Mary (Beckett) Parker, Faye, as she was known by family and friends was born in Perry Township, Tuscarawas County, on July 27, 1942.
She attended grade school at Perry Township, received her intermediate schooling at Freeport and ultimately graduated from the former Uhrichsville High School in 1960. On October 3, of the same year, she married the love of her life, William David Burns. Together the couple reared two daughters and shared in 51 years of marriage prior to his passing on August 18, 2012.
Faye was a stay-at-home Mom while raising her family and was passionate about supporting the Rush Township and Stillwater communities in various ways. She was an active 4-H advisor to her daughters and their friends for numerous years, enjoyed volunteering at the township’s Ham and Turkey Supper and was an avid backer of fundraisers held by the volunteer fire department and Rush school.
Professionally, Faye loved her work with Twin City Hospital where she was employed by the hospital’s former daycare program. In April of 1989, she joined the staff of Marathon Manufacturing where she has worked for the nearly the past 25 years as a seamstress with the firm.
Aside from spending her free time with her family and grandchildren, Faye enjoyed primitive wood crafting, attending auctions and yard sales, collecting antiques and caring for her beloved cat, Boots.
She will be sadly missed by her two daughters, Melinda (Mark) Hamilton and Lisa (Eddie) Willis both of Uhrichsville; three grandchildren, Josh (Jess) Link and Kyle (companion, Nickie Enos) and Kayla (companion, Bryan Pace) Willis; six great-grandchildren whom referred to her as grandma-grandma, Dylan, Liberty, Maddie, and Abbigael Link and Gabby and Ellie Short; a sister, MaryAnn Blackwell, and two brothers, Willis Parker and James Parker.
The family will receive guests on Saturday, March 29, 2014 in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia from 1:00 – 3:00 PM. Tim Hatfield will lead a service celebrating Faye’s life in the funeral home’s chapel on Saturday at 3:00 PM. Private burial, will follow cremation in Union Cemetery at Uhrichsville.
Faye was proud to have been a 42 year cancer survivor and a supporter of the American Cancer Society, 525 North Broad Street, Canfield, Ohio 44406, where the family requests contributions in her memory be directed.
