Arlene June Mizer, age 96, of Stone Creek, went to be with her Lord and Savior early Thursday, April 11, 2024, while in the care of Lifecare Hospice, in her residence, following a period of declining health.
Born in Dover, Ohio on June 7, 1927, Arlene was a daughter of the late William C. and Lena Miller Hoffman.
She began her education at Port Washington and ultimately graduated from the former Stone Creek High School. She furthered her education at the Canton Actual Business School and went on to work for the I.G. Harmon Company, a wholesale florist in Canton and later worked for the Tuscarawas County Health Department.
On September 12, 1948, she married Wayne E. Mizer and soon after became a stay-at-home mom, raising her two children, Jeff and Melanie. As a couple, Arlene and Wayne shared 70 years of marriage prior to his passing on January 22, 2019.
Arlene was a member of Jerusalem Church where she sang in the choir. Additionally, she taught Sunday School all her adult life. She also participated in short-term mission projects including disaster relief areas and the Navajo Reservation in Arizona. Arlene was also a longtime member of the Stone Creek Garden Club.
At home, she enjoyed playing the organ, gardening, and sewing. Above all, she enjoyed canning, cooking, baking, and caring for her family with a smile on her face; and often served as a source of comfort and encouragement to those who sought her advice.

Pleasant Mills, Pennsylvania, Jesse (Andrea) Mizer of Middleburg, Pennsylvania, Elizabeth (Todd) Updegraff of Port Trevorton, Pennsylvania, Nathan (Amanda) Grella of Ft. Worth, Texas, Betsy Grella of Canton and Jenny (Kaipo) Newhouse of Hauula, Hawaii; her great-grandchildren, Noah, Chloe, Matthew, Elliot, Olivia, Isabelle, Adelaide, Moriah, Blake and Mckenna, and many nieces and nephews.
