Arlene June Kinsey, 86, formerly of 5000 Kinsey Valley Road SW, New Philadelphia, died peacefully on Saturday, December 25, 2010 in New Dawn Retirement Community at Dover following a period of declining health.A daughter of the late Roy and Lena (Eckert) Heminger, Arlene was born June 13, 1924 at Fiat, Ohio.Arlene graduated from Baltic High School in 1942. Then on April 6, 1947, Easter Sunday, she married William F. Kinsey. Together the couple raised three children, Fred, Karen and Bill.She was a long time member of the First United Church of Christ at New Philadelphia where she sang in the choir, taught Sunday School and along with her husband, served as a youth advisor for many years. Arlene was also a member of the Homebuilders Class and the Miriam Circle. She served on the church consistory, as a deacon and was elected an elder on January 17, 1993.Arlene was also a long time advisor of the Oldtown Sewing Sisters 4-H Club and a 20 year member of the Oldtown Homemakers Club where she was awarded the Tuscarawas County Senior Homemaker of the Year Award in 1990. She also held memberships with A.A.R.P and the Tuscarawas County Senior Center.She is survived by her children, Frederick (Dawn) Kinsey of New Philadelphia, Karen (Roger) Voshall of Parma and Bill Kinsey Jr. of Ne w Philadelphia, her grandchildren, Kimberly (Marwan Zannerni) Kinsey, Laura (Jesse) Henary and Frederick Kinsey Jr. all of New Philadelphia, Benjamin (Erin) Kinsey of Pataskala, Ohio, Justin (Lindsey Lorenz) Kinsey of Bolivar, Rachel (James Vanderpool Jr.) Voshall of Avon, Ohio and Sarah (James Hoag Jr.) Voshall of Parma; her great grandchildren, Antigone Kinsey, Kayla Henary, Julia Henary, Owen Kinsey, Ava Kinsey, Hailey Vanderpool, Kara Vanderpool, Robbie Vanderpool and David Quinones; a sister, Miriam Shumaker of Sarasota, Florida and two nephews, Jeffrey and Robert Shumaker.Arlene was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Bill, who passed away on September 16, 1979 and her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Harry and Edna Kinsey.The family will receive friends on Tuesday, December 28, 2010, from 4 to 7 p.m. in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. A funeral service celebrating Arlene’s life will be held on Wednesday, December 29, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home’s chapel with Pastors Jeffrey Gerber and Jill Lovett officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Burial Park at New Philadelphia. A memorial reception will follow the burial in the Geib Family Center at New Philadelphia.Contributions may be made in Arlene’s memory to the Building Fund at the First United Church of Christ, P.O. Box 422, New Philadelphia, OH 44663, to help offset the debt of the new addition.
