Arleen Korns

Arleen Korns, 83, of New Philadelphia, died Thursday, June 11, 2015 in Amberwood Manor at New Philadelphia following a period of declining health.

A daughter of the late Thomas and Florence (Leggett) Richards, Arleen was born on June 19, 1931 at Barnhill, Ohio.

Arleen graduated from Midvale High School in 1949. She was employed at East Sparta Ceramic & Tile and retired after 44 years of service. Arleen enjoyed attending East Sparta Ceramic & Tile Retiree luncheons.

She is survived by her sister, Catherine McWilliams of New Philadelphia; two brothers, Leonard (Barbara) McPherson of Strasburg and Thomas Richards of Apple Creek, Ohio; numerous nieces and nephews; her step-children, Robert (Julie) Korns of Bowerston, Richard (Dawn) Korns of Dover, and Barbara (Richard) Wilson of Bolivar; five step-grandchildren, Heather (Sean) of Iowa, Trevor (Rachel) of New Baltimore, Michigan, Terry, Travis, and Trenton; five step great-grandchildren and a special friend, Dorothy Locker.

Arleen was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Glenn Korns; her first husband, William Fish; her step father, Charles McPherson; her twin sister, Eileen McPherson and sister, Bessie McPherson.

Calling hours will be held on Sunday, June 14, 2015 from 2 to 4 p.m. in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. A funeral service celebrating Arleen’s life will be held on Monday, June 15, 2015 at 1:30 p.m. in the funeral home with Rev. Scott Simmons officiating. Burial will follow in East Avenue Cemetery at New Philadelphia. Following the committal service, a luncheon will be held in the Geib Family Center at New Philadelphia.
