Anthony N. “Rocky” Marchione, 69, of New Philadelphia, died Monday, April 25, 2005, at Mercy Medical Center in Canton.A son of the late Arcangelo and Carmela (Tristano) Marchione, Rocky was born January 4, 1936 in Dover.He was a 1954 graduate of St. Mary’s High School in Dennison and following graduation he went on to receive his electrical certification. He retired from Gradall in 1996 after 40 years of service.Rocky was a veteran of the United States Army having served during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of Sacred Heart Church in New Philadelphia as well as a member of the Army-Navy Garrison #1978 in Dover, the Knights of Columbus, Italian American Club and the Dennison St. Mary’s Alumni Association.Rocky epitomized and embodied all that is good and all that defines family in its truest and purest sense of the word.For his quiet, unassuming, unpretentious nature, his calm and patient disposition, his gentle, caring, witty and kind manner, his generosity of his time in sharing his numerous talents, his devotion to his God and Country, his devotion to his mother and four generations, he will forever be remembered as our “Rock”.He is survived by four sisters, Pauline Smith of North Canton, Ruby (Stanley) Massarelli of New Philadelphia, Joanne Marchione of North Canton and Gloria Talarico of Canton; one brother, Dean (Polly) Marchione of Norfolk, Virginia; special family friend, Susan Stearns of North Canton; and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and cousins.Rocky was preceded in death by his parents, beloved uncle, Anthony Tristano, two brothers-in-law, one nephew, and one great niece.Visitation will be Thursday, April 28, 2005, from 5 to 8 p.m. in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory in New Philadelphia with a Christian Wake service being held at 7:45 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, April 29, 2005 at 10:30 a.m. in Sacred Heart Church in New Philadelphia with Monsignor George Schlegel officiating. Burial will follow in St. Elizabeth’s Cemetery in Roswell where the New Philadelphia V.F.W. Post #1445 will conduct military honors.
