Anne C. Snyder, age 91, of Park Village Health Care Center, Dover and formerly of New Philadelphia died Saturday morning, September 10, 2011 in Union Hospital at Dover.Born January 3, 1920 in Canton, she was the daughter of the late Henderson H. and Ella (Ward) Carson.In 1937, Anne graduated from McKinley High School and continued her formal education at the College of Wooster. She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1941. On December 19, 1941, she married the love of her life, Leonard W. Snyder, who preceded her in death on September 20, 2009.Together the couple reared three children, David, Laura and Susan. Anne spent her professional career as a librarian throughout the area at the Tuscarawas County Public Library, the New Philadelphia High School Library, and the Strasburg High School Library. During her tenure with the Tuscarawas County Public Library, she enjoyed traveling on the bookmobile and also served as one of the first “story ladies.” She was blessed with many God-given gifts and had a great appreciation for music; as a pianist who also had the ability to play “the bones”. Other hobbies included playing cards, completing crossword puzzles, traveling, and reading. She was an asset to a number of area organizations including the College Club, Little Theatre of Tuscarawas County, the New Philadelphia Chapter #222 Order of the Eastern Star and the Tuscarawas County Historical Society. She was a recipient of the prestigious Zeisberger Heckewelder Award in 2001. She was a longtime Presbyterian who later in life joined the First United Methodist Church at New Philadelphia.Most importantly was her love of her family who will deeply miss her, including her daughters, Laura S. (Richard) Whinery of Chillicothe, O. and Susan E. Hamilton of New Philadelphia; her son, David L. (Millie) Snyder of Louisville, O; five grandchildren, Ryan Snyder, Averi (David) Hudson, Megan (Brent) Stypczynski, Jada (Victor) Luna and Jelisa Hamilton; and six great-grandchildren.In addition to her husband and parents, Anne was preceded in death by her sister, Julia C. Condit.The family will receive friends on Tuesday, September 13, 2011, from 10:00 – 11:30 a.m. in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. A funeral service celebrating Anne’s life will be held on Tuesday at 11:30 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with Mr. Steve Jenkins officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Burial Park at New Philadelphia. Following the committal service, a memorial reception will be held in the Hospitality Room of the Geib Funeral Center at Dover.The family suggests contributions be made in Anne’s memory to the Tuscarawas County Humane Society, 6895 Dover-Zoar Road, Dover, OH 44622, the Tuscarawas County Historical Society P.O.
