Annabelle Haney, age 83, of New Philadelphia, died Sunday, May 18, 2008, in New Dawn Health Care Center at Dover, following a brief illness.Born August 20, 1924, at Tuscarawas, Annabelle was a daughter of the late Elmer and Cathryn (Montague) Reichman.Annabelle was a graduate of Tuscarawas-Warwick Schools and was proud to have never missed a day of school.Following graduation, Annabelle took to homemaking and raising her children. As a passionate cook and baker, she will be remembered for her talent in making some of the best sweet treats, potato candy, hard tack and her famous peanut butter cookies.Annabelle was also naturally creative. She enjoyed creating numerous different types of crafts that included needle point and floral arrangements. Additionally, Annabelle would put her creativity to use in making gifts. Her grandchildren have had the honor of receiving some of her handcrafted ceramic Christmas ornaments and many residents throughout area nursing homes have benefited from her hand made blankets.Ms. Haney was a very active member of the Tuscarawas County Senior Center and enjoyed any activity that she could attend or participate. If it involved taking a bus trip, or any other activity, she would be there. She was also a member of the First Assembly of God at New Philadelphia for more than 25 years.While some may have believed that Annabelle was a spunky and sociable person, she had a quiet side as well; often enjoying the quiet meditation of assembling a jigsaw and working on a word find puzzle.A lover of the outdoors, Annabelle especially enjoyed the summertime where she not only would watch Cleveland Indians baseball but also adored watching her own grandchildren play in various summer league baseball teams.Annabelle is survived three sons, Bob (Pat) Haney of Uhrichsville, Terry (Roberta) Haney of Dover and Craig (Lisa) Haney also of Dover; daughter-in-law, Cynthia Haney of New Philadelphia; and a sister-in-law, Beulah “Tommy” Reichman.Eight grandchildren, Amy (Matt) Harding, Mindy (Tom) Hardman, Kerry (Russ) Erwin, Mike (Alicia) Haney, Nicole (Ian) Shafer, Josh Rader, Ryan Haney and Taylor Haney; Eleven great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews complete the family.In addition to her parents, Annabelle was preceded in death by, three brothers, Earl Reichman, Chuck Reichman, and her twin brother Ruben “Manny” Reichman; two sisters, Peg Chitti, and Lydia “Sis” Hidey; an infant daughter, Evelyn Haney; a son, Tim Haney; and a grandson, Derek Haney. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, May 20, 2008 from 6-8PM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. Pastor Larry Fletcher will lead a service celebrating Annabelle’s life Wednesday at 11:30 AM in the First Assembly of God at New Philadelphia. Burial will follow in Ridgecrest Memory Gardens at Dover.Following services, the family would like to invite friends to return with them to the First Assembly of God for a time of food and fellowship.Those unable to attend are invited to send the family personal condolences by signing the online guest registry located on the funeral home’s website.
