Anna Mae Haines, age 82 of New Philadelphia, died Wednesday, May 17, 2006 in the New Dawn Health Care Center following a brief illness. Born in her family home at Barnhill, January 22, 1924, Anna Mae was one of ten children born and reared by the late Samuel W. Booth and Mary Richards Booth. Baptized in the Barnhill United Brethren Church, Anne Mae attended services there until the church closed its doors, at which time, she placed her membership with the Midvale United Methodist Church. Anna Mae was a familiar face at the former Reiser’s General Store and Golder’s General Store at Barnhill, where she worked for a number of years. On April 25, 1955, she was wed to Donald L. “Bud” Haines in Richmond, Indiana. The couple celebrated thirty-one years together until his death April 7, 1987 at the age of 59. Anna Mae will be remembered as a loving and caring sister and aunt. A homemaker her entire life, her family will miss the very caring and thoughtful way in which she walked in this life. Many of her relatives will treasure the embroidered quilts she labored upon in her spare time. Survivors include her sister, Mary Durbin of New Philadelphia, sisters-in-law Donna Booth of Tuscarawas, Ida M. Booth of Sherrodsville, Joan Booth and Norma Haines of New Philadelphia, Bonnie Feiszli of Moundsville, West Virginia, brothers-in-law Robert Haines and wife Cecilia of North Carolina, Clarence Smitley of Dennison, Allen “Doc” Kinsey of New Philadelphia. A special and dedicated niece Lucinda Smitley as well many other nieces and nephews including Jennifer Palumbo, Brenda Faniola, Shari Reichman, Daniel Booth, Susan Whitman, Sally Barnhart, Sandra Booth, Shelly Canfield, Harold Booth Jr., Suzanne Easterling, Robin Booth, Timothy Booth, Linda Tschudy, Matthew Durbin, Maryann Durbin, William S. Booth, Thomas Booth, Debra Young, John Booth, Dolly Hennis, Mary Knight, Jay Booth, Priscilla Hibbs, Rebecca Booth, Rebecca Ehrhart, Debra Brown, Betsy Sumerlin, Barbara Fahenstock, Mark Feiszli, Robert Haines Jr., Leonard Haines, and Rick Haines. In addition to her parents and husband, Anna Mae is preceded in death by sisters Maxine Smitley, Arleen Kinsey and Betty J. Booth, as well as brothers Glen, Bill, Sam, Danny and Harold Booth, sisters-in-law; Thelma Haines, Treva Booth, Norma Booth and Patricia Haines, brothers-in-law; Richard Haines, James Durbin, Leroy Feiszli, and her mother and father-in-law Leonard and Ferne Willis Haines. Friends are invited to call Friday May 19, from 6PM until 8PM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home and Crematory at New Philadelphia. Pastor David Powell will lead services Saturday morning at 11AM in the funeral home’s chapel. Burial will follow at Evergreen Burial Park. Following the committal service, a reception will be given in the fellowship hall of Midvale United Methodist Church.
