Anna Mae “Aunt Sis” Murphy, 87, of Dover, passed away peacefully in Park Village Nursing Home at Dover on May 28, 2018.
Born in New Philadelphia on April 26, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Howard Melvin and Mary Eldora (Schlafly) Murphy.
After graduating from Midvale High School in 1949, she completed her formal education at the Timken Mercy Hospital School of Practical Nursing in 1969, Aunt Sis ultimately worked at Mercy Medical Center in Canton as a respiratory therapist for 27 years until her retirement.
Her nieces cherished her generous spirit and kind heart. Aunt Sis was an excellent seamstress, making the majority of her own clothing.
She leaves behind her family including her sister, Shirley (Hubert) Egler of Dover; her nieces, Patty Wissman of New Philadelphia, Barb (Craig) Davis of New Philadelphia, Sherry (Mark) Blumenauer of Waynesburg, and Mallory (Miguel) Rivera of Dover; and several other nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
In addition to her parents, Aunt Sis was preceded in passing by her siblings, Bill and Melvin Murphy and Alice Denslow.
A public graveside service will be held Tuesday, June 5, 2018 at 1:00 pm in East Avenue Cemetery at New Philadelphia.
