Anna L. Mercer, 93, wife of the late James R. Mercer, passed away Saturday, November 2, 2002 at Park Village care Center in Dover following a brief illness.Born August 11, 1909 in Martins Ferry, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Matthew and Anna Withers Williams. A loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, she enjoyed quilting, reading and her grandchildren and family. Anna was a member of the First United Church of Christ in New Philadelphia and its women’s guild. She was also a member of the Reliable Rebekah Lodge and had served as Vice Grand, Noble Grand and was currently serving as conductor.Anna is survived by her son, Carl L. (Ramona) Mercer of Perrysburg; a daughter, Mary Louise King of Dover; five grandchildren, Douglas (Jerilyn) Mercer, Marla Michelsen, Christine (Jim) Kraft; Lesli (Harry) Humphries and Marcia (Joe) Lukens and ten great grandchildren. She was the last remaining sibling of eight brothers and sisters and is also preceded in death by her son-in-law, Vern King and two great grandchildren.Funeral services will be held Tuesday, November 5, 2002 at 11 AM at the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home in New Philadelphia with Rev. Jeffrey R. Gerber officiating. Burial will be at Evergreen Burial Park in New Philadelphia. A reception will be held in the Geib Family Center following the committal. Visitation will be held Monday, November 4, 2002 from 4 to 7 PM in the funeral home. The Rebekah Lodge will conduct services at 3:45 PM.
