Ann M. Bowers, age 89 of Country Club Retirement Center at Dover and formerly of New Philadelphia died peacefully, Tuesday, March 25, 2014 following a period of declining health.
A daughter of the late Oscar and Leota (Walton) Ringheimer, Ann was born at Dover on April 22, 1924. She was a 1942 graduate of Dover High School and was proud to have been a member of the school’s first majorette squad. On August 30, 1947, she married Henry Thad Bowers.
Ann was a longtime member of the First United Church of Christ at New Philadelphia where she sang in the church choir. She also served as a volunteer for Union Hospital at Dover for many years.
An avid gardener, baker and Bridge player, Ann also enjoyed crocheting and cross stitching having made hundreds of special pieces that she gave as gifts to family and friends.
Ann lived for her family that includes three children, Reed (Annette) Bowers of Strasburg, Marcia (Douglas) Campbell of Delaware, Ohio and Brad (Mary) Bowers of Solon, Ohio; six grandchildren, Hillary (Greg) Parsons, Marla and Bethany Campbell and Nathan, Jeffrey (Sara) and Lindsey Bowers; a step-granddaughter, Alison Wright and four great-grandchildren, Charles Parsons, Elliott Bowers, Evelyn Bowers and Arlo Bowers.
In addition to her parents, Ann was preceded in death by her husband, Thad who died on October 24, 2006, and a sister, Norma Ringheimer Markley.
The family will greet guests in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia on Friday, March 28, 2014, from 1:00 – 2:00 PM. Pastors, Jeff Gerber and Jill Lovett will lead a memorial service in the funeral home’s chapel on Friday at 2:00 PM. Private burial in the Dover Burial Park will take place prior to the service.
