Angela Gertrude Cardani, age 83, of New Philadelphia, died Tuesday, December 1, 2009, surrounded by her family following a courageous battle with cancer.A daughter of the late Peter P. and Cora (Bonvechio) Berlendis, “Jean” as she was known to her family and friends was born on May 11, 1926, at Wainwright and was a 1943 graduate of the former Tuscarawas High School.On April, 26, 1952, she married Pierino A. “Pete” Cardani and together the couple reared two daughters. For more than forty years, the couple shared their lives until Pete’s passing on September 25, 1994.For a number of years, Jean owned and operated Jean & Jo’s Hair Salon at Dennison. She was a member of the former St. Theresa’s Parish at Wainwright and would later become a member of Immaculate Conception Church at Dennison.Jean enjoyed working puzzles, praying the rosary, and mowing her lawn; but truly enjoyed time spent with family and friends over tea and cookies.Jean leaves behind a family that includes two daughters, Mary C. Cardani of Wainwright and Beth A. Cardani (companion, Mark McKenzie) of New Philadelphia; two sisters, Ann Tamborini of Dover and Geraldine “Jerry Lou” Berlendis of Wainwright.A granddaughter, Courtney R. Donohoe of Kent, three nieces Susan Tamborini, Lorraine Stan, and Monica Tamborini, as well as two great-nephews, Joshua Stan, Aaron Gabriel, and a great-niece Sydney Stan complete the family.In addition to her parents and husband, Jean was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Jordan Tamborini.The family will receive friends in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory on Friday, December 4, 2009, from 4:00 � 7:00 PM. Monsignor George J. Schlegel will lead the rosary prior to visitation at 3:30 PM.Father Anthony P. Lonzo will celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, December 5, 2009, at 12:00 PM in Immaculate Conception Church at Dennison. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery at New Philadelphia.Following the services the family would like to invite guests to join them in the Geib Family Center, adjacent to the funeral home where a meal and fellowship will be shared.The family requests that memorial contributions in Jean’s name may be directed to Hospice of Tuscarawas County, 201 W Third Street, Dover, Ohio 44622 or to Immaculate Conception Church, 206 N. First Street, Dennison, Ohio 44621.
