Amy Jo Beitzel, 56, of Dover, died peacefully on Tuesday, June 12, 2012 in the care of Community Hospice House at New Philadelphia following a long and courageous battle with cancer.
A daughter of Earl and Priscilla (Everett) Beitzel of New Philadelphia, Amy was born on April 25, 1956 in Union Hospital at Dover.
She was a 1974 graduate of New Philadelphia High School and entered into the health care industry as a nurse assistant at Union Hospital. For the past 17 years, Amy has been employed by Community Hospice of Tuscarawas County as a Home Health Aide.
Amy was very dedicated and passionate about her work with Hospice. She loved being a caregiver to her patients and formed a special bond with each one and their families. Additionally, she took great joy in caring for her parents and daughter. She was a happy, positive and generous person who was always thinking of the needs of others before her own.
When not working, Amy enjoyed her time as a member of First Assembly of God Church at New Philadelphia where she was an active participant in many of the church’s activities. She loved to work in the flower gardens which surrounded her home and loved her Yorkshire Terrier, Murry. She also enjoyed shopping with her daughter, completing crossword puzzles, garage sales and walking.
Amy will be deeply missed by her family, which in addition to her parents, includes a daughter, Nicole Beitzel of Lexington, Kentucky; a sister, Stephanie (Scott) Boli of North Canton; four brothers, Steve (Christine) Beitzel of New Philadelphia, Tim (Lori) Beitzel of Bolivar, Todd (Holly) Beitzel of Dover and Matthew (Gail) Beitzel of Boise, Idaho. Completing the family are numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and their families.
The family will greet guests on Thursday, June 14, 2012 from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. Pastor Larry Fletcher will lead a service celebrating Amy’s life in the funeral home’s chapel on Friday, June 15, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow in Evergreen Burial Park at New Philadelphia.
Following services, the family will return to the Geib Family Center at New Philadelphia where a time of food and fellowship will be shared.
