Alyce Marie Perkins

Alyce Marie Perkins, 82, of New Philadelphia passed away on September 7, 2006 following a lengthy illness. Alyce was born in Dennison Ohio on August 2, 1924. She was the daughter of the late Earl Williams and Dolly Garabrandt Long. She was preceded in death by her husband Darrell E. Perkins, whom she married on August 12, 1945, her daughter-in-law Mary Perkins and a grandson James A. Kwitchen.Survivors include a son, Larry Perkins of New Philadelphia; two daughters, Sharon (Dan) Kwitchen and Joyce (Dennis) Riggle, all of Richmond, VA; seven grandchildren, Greg Perkins and Chris Perkins of New Philadelphia; Jeff Kwitchen of Richmond VA; Jennifer (Michael) Trudnak of Apex NC; Melanie (George) Krause of Sherrodsville OH; Michelle (Rob) Foiles of Hanahan SC; Tim (Diane) Riggle of Richmond VA; and nine great-children, Andy, Kyle and Kayla of New Philadelphia; Marisa and Ian of Sherrodsville; Lindsay of Cleveland OH; Gavin of Richmond VA; Kayla and Alia of Apex NC.Alyce, who was a member of The First United Methodist Church at New Philadelphia, will be remembered by her family and friends as a woman who loved to bowl, to fish, and to play golf and bingo. She had a true passion for her dogs who provided companionship and comfort. As an avid sports fan, she loved the Cleveland Browns, the Cleveland Indians and the Ohio State Buckeyes. Alyce was the first female dispatcher for the Ohio State Highway Patrol. She enjoyed spending time with her children, her grandchildren and her great-grandchildren, all of whom will miss her greatly.Friends may call in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia on Sunday, September 10, 2006 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held in the Linn-Hert-Geib Chapel on Monday, September 11, 2006 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Dr. Steven Bailey officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Burial Park at New Philadelphia. Friends are invited to join the family after services conclude in the Geib Family Center at New Philadelphia for a memorial reception. Memorials to Alyce may be made to the American Heart Association at 4217 Park Place Court, Glen Allen VA 23060 or to the American Diabetes Association at 1815 W. Market Street, Suite 108, Canton OH 44313-7018.
