Alton L. Bishop, 86, of Beach City, passed away on July 11, 2024 in Hennis Care Centre at Bolivar.
Born in Wadsworth, Alton was the son of the late John and Bessie (Wolf) Bishop. Alton owned and operated Bish’s Sign and Bucket Service for many years. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, growing flowers and houseplants, feeding the birds and squirrels, and most of all spending time with his family. On August 13, 1966 he married Sharon Hamilton, and together they enjoyed 57 years of marriage, before her passing in January of 2024.
Alton is survived by his two sons, Richard (Cynthia) Bishop of Massillon and Robert (Angel) Bishop of Beach City; sisters, Belva Cowhick of Nova, Ohio, and Ellen Miller of Morgantown, Kentucky; three grandchildren, Richard L. Bishop, Jr., John Bishop, and Brandy Bishop; two step-granddaughters, Kelly Forrest and Krista Miller; a great granddaughter, Aleigha Bishop, and numerous step-great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents and wife, Sharon Bishop; and brother, Warren Bishop.
In keeping with his wishes, Alton is to be cremated through the care of the Geib Funeral Center and Crematory at Dover and a private burial will take place at a later date.
