Alta Troendly, 99, formerly of 6927 Pleasant Hill Dr. SW, Stone Creek, died Tuesday, Oct. 15, 2002, at 6:20 p.m. after an extended illness in the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Eileen and Larry Gooding, who reside at 1351 Clearview Dr. SE, New Philadelphia.Brown Feb. 3, 1903, near Ragersville, she was a daughter of the late Daniel and Elizabeth Rausch Youngen.She was a former schoolteacher, having taught at Ragersville and Stucky Valley schools. Alta was a member of Ragersville Zion United Church of Christ, where she taught Sunday school for many years and was a member of the Women’s Guild. She was also a former 4-H leader and a member of the Fiat Homemakers.Her husband, Loren Troendly, whom she married June 20, 1928, preceded her in death on May 19, 1995.In addition to her daughter, she is survived by two grandchildren, Mrs. Pat (Lisa) Barbee of New Philadelphia and Steve (Michelle) Gooding of New Philadelphia; four great-grandchildren, Brianne and Brody Barbee and Drew and Lucas Gooding.Four brothers, three sisters and one grandson are deceased.Funeral services will be held Friday, Oct. 18, 2002, at 11 a.m. in the Ragersville Zion United Church of Christ at Ragersville. Rev. Edward Morrison will officiate, and burial will follow in Ragersville Cemetery. Friends may call Thursday from 6 to 9 p.m. in the Smith-Geib Funeral Home at Sugarcreek.
