Alta M. Deibel, 85, of Dover, died Wednesday, March 13, 2002, in Morning View Care Center, New Philadelphia, following an extended illness. Born July 22, 1916, in Sugarcreek, she was a daughter of the late Oliver Thomas and Clara Amelia Zurcher Burrier. Alta was baptized in the United Church of Christ in Ragersville, and attended the Ragersville School. She was a member of First United Methodist in New Philadelphia, and was a devoted homemaker. Surviving are two sons, James Allen Deibel and his special friend and companion, Judy Swinehart, of Dover, and Robert Lee (Joann) Deibel of Alligator Point, Florida; three grandchildren, Jody Deibel, James Allen Deibel, Jr., and Eric Gronberg; three great-grandchildren.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Otis Deibel who died in 1981; granddaughter, Jeannie Deibel; sister, Florence Rothacher; four brothers, Earl, Louie, Walter and Paul Burrier.Funeral services will be held Monday, March 18, 2002, at 1:30 PM, in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home, New Philadelphia, with Dr. Steven R. Bailey officiating. Burial will follow at East Avenue Cemetery in New Philadelphia. Calling hours will be Sunday, March 17, 2002, 2-5 PM in the funeral home.
