Alta (Edie) Marcaletti, 90, of Dover, died Wednesday, May 10, 2006 at Hennis Care and Retirement Centre at Dover following a brief illness.A daughter of the late Roy and Nora (Dowdle) Edie, Alta was born on September 12, 1915 and raised on a farm near Tuscarawas, Ohio with her nine siblings.She was a 1933 graduate of Tuscarawas High School and during World War II; Alta worked for the Goodyear Airplane Factory as a “Rosie the Riveter”. She also worked in the banking and retail industry for many years.Alta was a resident of Seton Square at Dover for the past 26 years and was a life long member of the Moravian Church, She had a love for children and for many years, she would drive to Carrollton to be a foster grandparent and mentor at the Carrollton Catholic Villa for children in need. She enjoyed spending her spare time crocheting heirlooms for family and friends and keeping up on her grandchildren and great grandchildren’s activities.She is survived by two sons, Richard (Cheryl) Marcaletti and Ronald (Dee Grill) Marcaletti both of New Philadelphia; six grandchildren who all loved their “Granny Alta” dearly, Mark Marcaletti, Robyn (Marty) McQuade, Rick Marcaletti, Dianne Albaugh, Quint Marcaletti and Belle (Jack) Everett; four step grandchildren, Tony Grill, Leslie Moffatt, Jon (Karen) Morgan and Matt (Caryn) Morgan; eight great grandchildren, Josh, Chris, Curt and Monica Marcaletti, Alyssa and Anthony Albaugh and Nic and Nathan (Robyn) Everett and six step great grandchildren, Cara, Lilli, Sophie and Claire Morgan and Kate and Lindsay Moffatt and two great-great grandchildren, Issac and Eli Everett; two sisters, Fern (Jack) Robinson of Uhrichsville and Opal (Joe) Perko of Wainwright.Alta was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, Russell Edie, Floyd Edie and Max Edie and three sisters, Olive Heter, Isabelle Campbell, Clair Edie and Helen Carpenter Dye.A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, May 16, 2006 at 11:30 a.m. in the Sharon Moravian Church Cemetery with Pastor Allen Bergman officiating. Friends and family may call at the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia on Tuesday from 10 to 11 a.m. Following the graveside service, a memorial reception will be held in the Geib Family Center at New Philadelphia.Memorial contributions may be made to The First Moravian Church of Dover, 319 North Walnut Street, Dover, OH 44622 or Hospice of Tuscarawas County, 201 West Third Street, Dover, OH 44622 or a charity of ones choice.
