Almeta W. Zagorec

Almeta W. “Mickey” Zagorec, age 83, of New Philadelphia, died peacefully late Saturday afternoon, April 23, 2011, in Union Hospital at Dover with her son and daughter-in-law at her side. Born at Milltown, Indiana March 3, 1928, she was a daughter of the late Harry E. Sutton and Esther Gregory Newkirk. Mickey attended Milltown High School and relocated to New Philadelphia in 1957. She retired from Alsco at Sugarcreek after 21 years of service.She is survived by her son, Randy (Kathy) Zagorec of New Philadelphia; two grandsons, Stacie (Nicole) Barker and Dennie Barker, three grandchildren, Kaij, Kristen and Alyssa and many nieces and nephews.In addition to her parents, Mickey was preceded in death by her husband, Francis G. Zagorec whom she married on October 20, 1956 and two daughters, Deanna Barker and Joyce Belden. She was also preceded in death by her siblings, Melbourne, Melvin, Carl, Harry Jr. and Dan Sutton, Doug and Herb Newkirk, Jean Baldwin and Constance Watson.In keeping with Mickey’s wishes there will be no calling hours and cremation will take place through the care of Geib’s Tuscarawas Valley Crematory. Inurnment will be held on Friday, April 29, 2011 at 11 a.m. in East Avenue Cemetery at New Philadelphia with Rev. Bud Milligan officiating.Those unable to attend are invited to share memories and condolences with the family by visiting the funeral home’s website.
