Allon M. Miller, age 60, of New Philadelphia, died early Tuesday morning, October 19, 2004, at his home following a 2-year illness.Born November 16, 1943, at Millersburg, Ohio, he was the son of Susan Kauffman Hershberger of Sugarcreek the late Mose Miller. He was married to the late Shirley Etter.Allon was a 1962 graduate from Hiland High School. He then graduated from the Ohio State Highway Patrol Academy and became a State Trooper. Allon’s career continued to develop as he became a self-employed brick layer who then became a union brick layer. His entrepreneurial spirit led him to become a manager for Culligan Water Conditioning in Florida, ultimately owning and operating Allon Water Conditioning in New Philadelphia. In addition, Allon was a Vietnam era veteran of the United States Army and was a member of the V.F.W. post 1445 of New Philadelphia. He enjoyed flying airplanes and traveling, especially trips to Florida. He treasured his companion dog, Maggie.Allon is survived by Sherry (Hobart) Miller whom he married 28 years ago, sons Chad Plotts of New Philadelphia and Keith Miller of Wooster, OH; daughters, Kristie Avon of Cleveland, OH, Karmen Miller of Avon, OH, and Karla Imhoff of Dover.He’ll be sadly missed by his grandchildren Taryn and Rehgan Avon, Derik and Devin Swinderman, and Autum Imhoff, his best friend Gary (Pat) Avon, a brother, Joe (Ellen) Miller of Dover, and a sister Lois (Dave) Stull of Jonesville MI, and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his father, a brother James, and a sister Joanna Miller-Short, precede him in death.There are no public visitations or funeral ceremonies planned. Cremation will be conducted at the Geib Tuscarawas Valley Crematory in New Philadelphia, with burial at Calvary Cemetery in the spring of 2005. In gratitude for their exemplary care, the family requests memorial contributions to Hospice of Tuscarawas County, 201 West Third Street, Dover, OH, 44622 or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
