Alice Vivian Lanning

Alice Vivian Lanning, 85, of New Philadelphia, died in Schoenbrunn Healthcare Center at New Philadelphia on Friday evening, February 1, 2008.Born August 29, 1922 in Stillwater, Ohio, she was a daughter of the late Forest M. and Zelma B. Copeland White.After graduating from Uhrichsville High School in 1940, Vivian began her professional career working for The Timken Company, Puritan Laundry, and she retired from Union Hospital after 46 years as a laundress. She loved to be in the outdoors, caring for her yard. Vivian was also a loving caregiver to her dog, Ginger.Vivian is survived by her siblings which include Roy White of Uhrichsville, Ruth (Robert) Lane of New Philadelphia, and Ralph (June) White of Uhrichsville; sisters-in-law, Louella McMullen of Gilmore and Beatrice Lanning of Peoli; and numerous nieces and nephews.In addition to her parents, Vivian was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald Lanning on August 28, 1992, a sister-in-law, Shirley White and a brother-in-law, Al Maloney.Visitation will be held Monday, February 4 from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. A funeral service celebrating Vivian’s life will be officiated by Rev. James Huston on Tuesday beginning at 1:00 p.m. Burial will follow in Ridgecrest Memory Gardens at Dover.
