ALICE MARIE SZYMIALIS of Barnhill, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, July 4, 2002, having passed away at Twin City Hospital after a lengthy illness. Alice was born in Lafferty, OH, a daughter of the late Constantino and Mary A. Chini Zanotelli Bartolis. On February 12, 1944 she married Alfred J. Szymialis who preceded her in death on May 6, 1965. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Church in Dennison and also attended Midvale United Methodist Church. Alice was also a member and past-President of the Midvale VFW Auxiliary and past district president. Additionally, she belonged to the former New Philadelphia Moose Lodge, the New Philadelphia VFW, the Tuscarawas Valley Sports Club and Prosperity Grange. In 1987 she retired from General Electric in Dover after 25 years service. Alice spent many hours volunteering her time and talents with various organizations. She enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Alice is survived by a son, John M. (Janice) Szymialis; four daughters, Kathryn M. (Michael) Oberholzer, Mary Anne (Richard) Baker, Christine E. (Ed) Vincent, and Toni J. Szymialis; grandchildren, Michael (Mindi) Oberholzer, Lori and Erin Oberholzer, Kelly (Gary) Crites, James (Lora) Szymialis and Kristen Chadwick, LeRoy (Sheree) Eberly, Leanne (Joe) Anthony, Jeff (Becky) Stearns, Fred (Becky) Warfield, Sean Warfield and Brian (Jessica) Warfield, Alyson Everhart and her companion Cliff Zimmerman; great-grandchildren, Jack Oberholzer, Cody, Cassie and Colt Crites, Madison and Brandon Szymialis, Devin Chadwick, Zachary Carr, Jessica, Jeffrey, Joshua and Jerrod Cottrell, Gabrielle and Holly Eberly, Jayden Stearns, Ashley and Emily Warfield, Aaliyah Warfield, Anthony and Logan Everhart; sister, Clara (James) Sorensen of Tucson, AZ and brother, John (Marlene) Zanotelli of Richardson, TX; numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Alice was preceded in death by her sister, Freida Hennig, brothers, Robert and William Zanotelli, and long-time friend, Don Corder. Calling hours will be on Sunday, July 7, 2002 from 1:00 to 5:00 PM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home in New Philadelphia. The prayer service will be held at 4:30 PM. The funeral mass will be on Monday, July 8, 2002 at 10:00 AM in Immaculate Conception Church, 206 N. First St., Dennison, with Fr. Martin J. Ralko as celebrant. Burial, alongside her husband, will follow at Calvary Cemetery in New Philadelphia, with a few memories shared by Rev. Gordon Myers. Following the committal a reception will be given at the Knights of Columbus hall in Dennison.
