Alice Mae (Crawford) Bloom, age 90, of New Philadelphia, went to be with the Lord, Friday, April 25, 2008, with her loving son, Eddie, at her side. Alice was born January 2, 1918, to Otho and Nita (Lee) Crawford of Bloomdale, Ohio. Alice was the first of seven children and was preceded in death by her parents, Otho and Nita, as well as sisters Betty (Crawford) Klinger and Bertha (Crawford) Bloom as well as brothers Clifford Crawford and Dallas Crawford. She is survived by sister Esther (Crawford) Hartman and brother Richard Crawford. Alice was married to Erle D. Bloom, who also preceded her in death. They had three children; Juliann (Bloom) Kuemerle and husband Charles, son Kevin Lee Bloom, who preceded her in death, and son Eddie Bloom. She is also survived by grandchildren Shannon (Bloom) Zielinski and her husband Matt, Jason Keumerle and wife Amber, and great granddaughter Emily Kuemerle. Many nieces, nephews, and friends complete the family. Alice retired from the Hoover Company in North Canton after many years of dedicated service, and proceeded to use her time serving in the New Philadelphia School District as a crossing guard for several elementary schools. She was the ever-minded grandmother to look after all who came her way. She was also the number one pick for babysitting duty; and loved every minute of it.She was a member of The Ladies of the Moose and spent many years enjoying the company of her fellow ladies. Her most cherished membership was at The First Church of God, of New Philadelphia, where Alice has been a faithful member for 55 years, and will be missed by her congregation. Alice will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother and will be missed by all those who had the opportunity to spend time with her throughout her life. May God bless her and care for her.Friends are invited to call Monday afternoon from 5-8PM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. Pastor Matt Roe will lead Mrs. Bloom’s funeral Tuesday morning at 10:30 AM in the funeral home’s chapel. Burial will follow in East Avenue Cemetery.
