Alice M. Limbaugh, age 96, formerly of New Philadelphia, died early Thursday evening, June 11, 2009, in New Dawn Retirement Center at Dover.A daughter of the late Pearl and Nora (Nussdorfer) Henry, Alice was born at Uhrichsville, Ohio on August 27, 1912.Alice graduated from the former Tuscarawas-Warwick High School on May 15, 1930. She was also a graduate of the former Stafford Business School at New Philadelphia.Alice soon married James W. Cochran and together the couple had five children. Following an unfortunate accident in 1945, James passed away, leaving Alice a single mother with five young children. This event only strengthened what was and remained a constant and unwavering faith in the Lord. As difficult as this time was on the family, Alice vowed to keep her family together; and with the help of her sister, Katherine and brother-in-law, Raymond, Alice did just that.Some years later, Alice began to work for the Miller Studio Company at New Philadelphia and was employed with the firm for more than twenty years prior to her retirement.At age 67, Alice found a soulmate in a neighbor who himself had also been widowed. Alice soon married Luther Limbaugh and they enjoyed each other’s company for nearly ten years until Luther passed away suddenly.For more than fifty years, Alice held a membership with the Otterbein United Methodist Church at New Philadelphia and was actively involved with numerous women’s circles and church activities. She also enjoyed the company of her family; spending time with them was often a highlight of her life and provided for her many memories.Alice is survived by her children; three daughters, Joy (Ralph) Huff of New Philadelphia, Marilyn (Donald) Hale of North Port, Florida, and Alice Faye (John) Bitikofer, of Dover; two sons, Jimmie (Judy) Cochran of New Philadelphia and Carl C. Cochran of Akron, Ohio; Two step-children, Judy (Buck) Smith of Reynoldsburg, Ohio and David (Sandy) Limbaugh of Mineral City; a sister, Katherine Reichman of Pinehurst, North Carolina; and a step daughter-in-law, Gladys “Taffy” Limbaugh. Twenty grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews complete the family.In addition to her parents and spouses, Alice was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Canfield and Helen Davis; a brother, Lawrence Henry; and a step-son, Ed Limbaugh.The family will receive friends on Monday, June 15, 2009, from 5:00 â?? 8:00 P.M. in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. Reverend James Taggart will lead a service celebrating Alice’s life on Tuesday, June 16, 2009, at 1:30 PM in the funeral home’s chapel. Burial will follow in the Sharon Moravian Church Cemetery. The family requests that memorial contributions in Alice’s name be made to Otterbein United Methodist Church, 156 Beaver Avenue NE, New Philadelphia, Ohio 44663.
