Alice M. Kinsey, 85, of New Philadelphia, died peacefully, Thursday evening, March 9, 2006 in Country Club Retirement Campus at Dover following a courageous battle with cancer.Born January 31, 1921 at Port Washington, Ohio, Alice was the daughter of the late Lowell and Frieda (Steinbach) Gilmore and was a member of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ at Port Washington her entire life. She was also a member of the VFW Auxiliary.Alice worked at several dry cleaning establishments. After retirement, she began her second vocation of babysitting her grandsons.Alice loved family get togethers, traveling with her late husband Harry “Bob” Kinsey, playing cards with her family, planning and tending to her garden, crafts and quilting with her friends, “The Quilting Angels”, of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ at Port Washington. She was especially fond of the Cleveland Indians which she followed on television. Every generation of her family will always remember her breakfasts of oats and toast, which she believed was essential to start the day.Alice is survived by her daughter, Nancy (Jim) Swiger of Port Washington; son, Gordon (Alice) Gilmore of Gnadenhutten; daughter-in-law, Cheryl Kinsey of Port Washington; brother, Blaine (Norma) Gilmore of Uhrichsville; grandchildren, Ricky Swiger of Coshocton, Roxanne Baker of Port Washington, David Gilmore of Uhrichsville, Leann (J.J.) Ong of Dennison, Rusty (Vicki) Kinsey of Stone Creek and Ben Kinsey of Uhrichsville; great-grandchildren, Shanon Baker, Dusty Baker, Lyndsay Baker, Lauriel Gilmore, Mitch Gilmore, Kory Kinsey, Kyle Kinsey, Harris Ong, Mallory Ong; step great-grandchildren, Nick Bender and Nicole Bender and great-great grandchildren, Xenia Baker and Whitney Baker.Alice was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband, Harry “Bob” Kinsey who died in 1993; her son Harry Kinsey, Jr. who died in 2004, her sisters Pauline Marlatt and Goldie Watson and one brother, Dwaine Gilmore.Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 12, 2006 from 4 to 6 p.m. in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia as well as one hour prior to the funeral service on Monday. A funeral service celebrating Alice’s life will be held on Monday, March 13, 2006 at 11 a.m. in the Linn-Hert-Geib Chapel with Rev. Dr. Robert Buckley officiating. Burial will follow in Ridgecrest Memory Gardens at Dover. Following the committal service, a memorial reception will be held in the Geib Family Center at New Philadelphia.The family requests that memorial contributions be made to St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, P.O.
