Alice L. Hizer

Alice L. Hizer, 90, of New Philadelphia, died Sunday, November 13, 2005 at Park Village Health Care Center in Dover.A daughter of the late John and Betty (Bennett) Taylor, Alice was born February 21, 1915 in Maple Wood, West Virginia.Alice retired from Union Hospital and was formerly employed by Valley Manor Nursing Home.She was a member of the First Baptist Church of New Philadelphia. She cherished every moment she spent with her family. Alice enjoyed traveling every year with her sisters to Myrtle Beach in South Carolina. She also enjoyed tending to her flower bed around her home.She is survived by four daughters, Deloris Morton of Leesville, South Carolina, Alice (Jim) Jones of Mesa, Arizona, Phyllis (Joseph) Verhovec of New Philadelphia and Karen Sue Hizer of New Philadelphia; 13 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; six great-great grandchildren; one daughter-in-law, Hazel Hizer of New Philadelphia; and one sister, Virginia McAllister of Beckley, West Virginia.Alice was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Arby Hizer, who died November 13, 1980; two sons, Arby L. and James Hizer; five sisters and six brothers.Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 16, 2005 from 1 to 3 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory in New Philadelphia. Services will be held on Thursday, November 17, 2005 at 2 p.m. in the Linn-Hert-Geib Chapel with Pastor Jim Stock officiating. Burial will take place in Evergreen Burial Park in New Philadelphia. Following the services, a memorial luncheon will be held in the Geib Family Center in New Philadelphia.
