Alfred Mancey, 86, of New Philadelphia, died Sunday afternoon, December 30, 2007 at his home following a year long battle with cancer.Born in Forest Park, Illinois on April 14, 1921, Al was the son of the late Sidney and Mary (Frank) Mancey.He was a graduate of Collinwood High School at Cleveland and then he attended Fenn College which was also at Cleveland. Al worked for Warner & Swasey for 44 years and was also a 54 year member of the First Presbyterian Church at New Philadelphia.On May 21, 1943, Al married the love of his life, the former Maud Wilson in theOld Stone Church at Cleveland. The couple shared 58 years of marriage prior to Maud’s passing on November 7, 2001.Al was a member of the Warner & Swasey Retirees group as well as a member of the Ohio LST/AMPHIBS Association. He enjoyed attending the United States Navy LST 944 annual reunions and he was masterful at his favorite hobbies of stained glass working and model building. Most of all, Al cherished the friendships formed with his “Lunch Bunch”.He is survived by his two daughters, Jane (Ron) Brewer of Dover and Susan (Kerry) Mancey-Sutton of Springboro, Ohio; four grandchildren, Sarah (Howard) Dugger of Fairfax, California, Matt Thornton of New Philadelphia and Ajay and Taylor Sutton of Springboro, Ohio; two great grandchildren, Maisie and Tegan Dugger of Fairfax, California; a brother-in-law, Harold Ischay of Richmond, Texas; a niece, Nan Winston of Scarsdale, New York and a nephew, Dennis Ischay of Richmond, Texas.In keeping with Al’s wishes, cremation will take place and a memorial service celebrating his life will be held on Monday, December 31, 2007 at 1:30 p.m. in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia with Rev’s. Dick Greenwood and Stuart Barr officiating. The family will receive guests one hour prior to the service.Contributions may be made in Al’s memory to Hopsice of Tuscarawas County, 201 West Third Street, dover, OH 44622.
