Alessio Paul “Les” Sicurella, 82, of New Philadelphia, passed away Sunday, June 8, 2003 in Union Hospital in Dover following an extended illness.Born August 19, 1920 in Swoyerville, Pennsylvania, he was a son of the late Paul and Felicia Alfano Sicurella. Alessio was a member of Sacred Heart Church in New Philadelphia upon moving from California where he retired as a construction supervisor for M. T. Patrick Construction. He also was an avid golfer and a former member of the Knights of Columbus in California.Alessio is survived by his wife, the former Dorothy Louise Pietro whom he married in 1949; one daughter, Karen Sicurella of New Philadelphia; one brother, Emanuel Sicurella of Follansbee, West Virginia; two sisters, Bea Sicurella of Follansbee, West Virginia and Pauline Soldani of Courtland, Ohio; twenty-two nieces and nephews and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews.In addition to his parents, Alessio was preceded in death by his two brothers, Tom and Joseph Sicurella.Visitation will be held at the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home on Wednesday, June 11, 2003, from 1 to 2 p.m. The Rite of Christian Burial will immediately follow visitation in the funeral home chapel officiated by Father William Arnold. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Dover.
