Alan Walters

Alan Ellsworth Walters, age 82, of New Philadelphia, died on Tuesday, October 11, 2022, in Oak Pointe Nursing and Rehabilitation at Baltic, after a period of declining health.

Born in New Philadelphia, Ohio on March 3, 1940 Alan was a son of the late Robert D. and Wilma (Henderson) Walters.

Alan proudly served in the US Navy from 1957 to 1961.  He retired after a 28-year career as a machinist at Hercules-White Engines in Canton, Ohio.  In his free time Alan enjoyed fishing, camping and bowling.

On August 26, 1964 he married Rosa (Reichman) Walters.  Together they enjoyed 55 years of marriage before her passing on December 25, 2019.

Alan is survived by his sons, Jeff Walters of New Philadelphia and Eric (Julie) Walters of Dover; grandchildren, Kayla Walters, Kelsi Walters, Rachel Walters, Christian Walters, Sarah Copeland, Robert Copeland and Keri Jo Copeland; 13 great-grandchildren; and brothers, Robert Walters and Randall Walters.

Alan was preceded in death by his parents, wife Rosa; son, Jon “Scott” Reichman; brother, Marc Walters; an infant sister; sister-in-law, Susan Walters; and great-grandchild, Dareian Blommel.

The family will greet guests on Sunday, October 16, 2022 from 5:00 to 7:00PM at Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia.  A service celebrating Alan’s life will be held in the funeral home chapel on Monday, October 17, 2022 beginning at 11:00AM with Hospice Chaplain Bill Eckert officiating. Burial will follow in Ridgecrest Memorial Gardens at Dover, where VFW Post 1445 will provide military honors.
