Alan N. “Pinky” Affolter, 59, of New Philadelphia, died Saturday, July 23, 2011 in his home following an extended illness.A son of the late Robert and Anita (Dunn) Affolter, Alan was born February 28, 1952 at New Philadelphia, Ohio.Pinky, as he was referred to by family and friends, graduated from New Philadelphia High School in 1970. He was a long time employee of Howden-Buffalo at New Philadelphia until his health no longer permitted him to do so.He was an avid outdoorsman. Pinky enjoyed fishing and hunting, especially bird hunting with his dogs, Angel and Frosty and tending to his garden. He also enjoyed “picking” on his neighbor, Rich Penrod. Pinky was a member of the New Philadelphia V.F.W. Post #1445.Pinky will be dearly missed by his very close friend, Connie Johnson of Bolivar; his aunt, Jennie Dunn of Dover; three nephews, Kevin (Cathy) Dunn, Kyle (Jadee) Dunn and Curtis Dunn all of Dover as well as many other dear friends.In keeping with Pinky’s wishes, cremation will take place through the care of Geib’s Tuscarawas Valley Crematory at Dover. Friends are invited to call in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia on Tuesday, July 26, 2011 from 5 to 8 p.m.Contributions may be made in Pinky’s memory to Community Hospice of Tuscarawas County, 201 West Third Street, Dover, OH 44622 or to the American Cancer Society, 525 North Broad Street, Canfield, OH 44406.
