Adeline Faye Mowls

Joseph Earl Mowls, 91, and Adeline Faye Mowls, 89, of New Philadelphia are together again. Joseph passed away on Sunday, January 11, 2015 and Adeline passed away on Friday, January 16, 2015 both at their residence while surrounded by family.

A son of the late Joseph and Hazel (Grund) Mowls, Joseph was born on January 7, 1924 at New Cumberland, Ohio. Adeline was born January 15, 1926 at Roswell, Ohio to the late Edward and Dora (Fox) Graham.

On November 27, 1942, Joseph and Adeline were united in marriage and together the couple raised two daughters, Sheila and Debra.

Joseph was retired from Reeve’s Steel at Dover and prior to that he worked as a miner at the former Midvale Mine. He was a member of the New Philadelphia VFW, Sam’s Grill and the former Eagles and Moose Lodges. Following his retirement, Joseph and Adeline enjoyed wintering in Holiday, Florida for 27 years. During his time in Florida, he enjoyed fishing in the Gulf of Mexico. In his younger years he enjoyed working on cars, racing stock cars at Midvale Speedway and pitching horse shoes.

Adeline was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who dedicated her life as a hard working homemaker. She will be remembered by many for her friendly and pleasant personality.

They are survived by their daughters, Sheila (Al) Amos and Debra Garabrandt both of New Philadelphia; their grandchildren, Jim Couch and Pam (Craig) Outman both of New Philadelphia and Steve (Kristie) Amos of Dundee and Sherri Longenette of Alliance; their great grandchildren, Joe Outman of Holland, Michigan, Kaylee (Justin) Kicos of Ft. Campbell, Kentucky, Summer Longenette of Alliance and Nathan and Molly Amos of Dundee and a great-great grandson who is expected in May.

Joseph is also survived by a sister, Jeannie Rothacher of New Philadelphia and Adeline is survived by a sister, Evelyn Kolbach of Clinton, Ohio and a brother, Jerry (Marge) Graham of New Philadelphia.

Joseph was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Margie and three brothers, Don, Floyd and Frank. Adeline was preceded in death by her parents and 12 siblings, Delmar, Elmer, Barney, Charles, Clifford, Edward, John, Pat, Ida, Dorothy, Gladys and Unadell.

In keeping with their wishes cremation will take place and a memorial service celebrating their lives will be held on Sunday, January 25, 2015 at 4 p.m. in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia with Pastor Greg Clay officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 2:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. in the funeral home. Following the service, a dinner and celebration of their lives will follow at Ricardo’s Party Center, 115 Front Avenue SW, New Philadelphia.
