Ada L. Pfeiffer Goodwin

Ada L. Pfeiffer Goodwin, 100, of Dover, died Monday, April 01, 2002 at Country Club Retirement Center in Dover.Born in Buckhorn, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Frederick E. and Anna E. Feller Pfeiffer. A graduate of New Philadelphia High School and Kent State University, she was a schoolteacher for thirty years having taught in the Roswell, New Philadelphia and Dover school systems. She was a lifelong member of the First United Church of Christ in New Philadelphia and had served as Primary Sunday School Superintendent for thirty years. She was a Past President of the Business and Professional Women’s Association, Past President of the Blue Star Mothers, Past President of the Union Hospital Twig, Past President and member since 1943 of the Women’s Study Club. Former member of the board of trustees of the Senior Citizens and Girl Scouts Council and was a loyal worker and organizer for the American Heart Association.She is preceded in death by her husband William Goodwin and is survived by a daughter, Genevieve A. (Richard) Dick of Columbus; a son, William F. (Norma) Goodwin of Tiffin; five grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Two brothers, a sister and a granddaughter are also deceased.Funeral Services will be held Friday, April 5 2002 at 1:30 PM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home in New Philadelphia with Rev. Jeffrey R. Gerber officiating. Burial will be at Evergreen Burial Park in New Philadelphia. Visitation will be held Friday from 12:30 to 1:30 PM. The family requests that memorial contributions may be made to the First United Church of Christ, P.O. Box 422, New Philadelphia, Ohio, 44663 or, the American Heart Association, 4916 Hills and Dales Road NW, Canton, Ohio 44708.
